Neal Gething
Consultant Psychologist
Westminster PCT
Neal Gething is a Psychologist working within Occupational Health, CENTRAL LONDON COMMUNITY HEALTHCARE. After Graduating from the University of Johannesburg with a Masters Degree in Psychology, he began his career at the Hospice Association of the Witwatersrand where he worked with terminal illness and bereavement.
Subsequent to leaving Hospice, Neal started the Adelphic Centre (a therapy centre that focused on giving prompt, high quality therapy and training) where he continued to develop his interest in the mind-body link. Much of his work at Adelphic focused on illness and psychology, trauma, bereavement, and psychopathology. He also began a training company (Empowerment Training Consultancy- ETC) with a colleague and used the Adelphic facilities to provide for the diverse training and development needs in the greater Johannesburg area. ETC provided a forum for him and his colleague to further test their notions that human beings best grow and develop when they come to an awareness of their potential and fortitude. In his spare time Neal wrote a weekly column for a national South African newspaper, developed training material, sat on the board of directors for Hospice Wits, and supervised the Masters Psychology students at the University of Johannesburg. He was a frequent guest lecturer for training institutions and charity organisations. This arena affords him the opportunity to further explore the workings of the human being in the work arena. He has worked in Occupational Health, CENTRAL LONDON COMMUNITY HEALTHCARE for six years expanding the ideas and paradigms associated with optimal development of the employee; with the full knowledge that the work arena with all its challenges can serve to enhance or disrupt the individual in his or her quest to grow and excel as a human being. He also does individual therapy, mentoring, stress reduction, and mediation; all avenues for exploring how best to equip employees in their work-life path.
